1. Purpose of the Directory
Spartanburg Residents Directory is a privately operated reference service. It describes and links to public rolls, record indexes, and directory collections related to Spartanburg, South Carolina. It does not host government records and is not affiliated with a government office, court, or records custodian.
2. Lawful Use Rules
Use the service only for lawful purposes. You may not use it, or anything found through it, to:
- Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm any person
- Locate someone protected by a restraining or protective order
- Commit identity theft or fraud
- Make FCRA-regulated decisions involving credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another regulated purpose
- Scrape, copy, or republish the service’s content at scale
- Interfere with the service’s operation or security
Misuse that involves intentional, substantial, and unreasonable intrusion into a person’s private life may violate South Carolina’s anti-harassment and stalking law, S.C. Code § 16-3-1700.
3. Consumer Reporting Limits
This service is not a consumer reporting agency as the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq., defines that term. Nothing here, including information returned by a linked search tool, is a consumer report. It may not be used to decide eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or any other purpose regulated by the FCRA.
4. Outside Resources
Government portals, sponsored search tools, and other outside services operate under their own terms and policies. We do not control their content, availability, pricing, or data practices.
5. No Warranties
The service is offered “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind. We do not promise that its information is accurate, complete, or current, or that a linked portal will remain available or return correct results.
6. Liability Limits
To the fullest extent allowed by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from use of this service or a linked resource, including decisions based on records found through them.
7. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold the service operators harmless from any claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, that results from your misuse of the service or breach of these terms.
8. Intellectual Property
The original text, design, logo, and layout are protected by copyright. Linking to a page and quoting short excerpts with attribution is welcome. Republishing full pages or systematically copying content is not permitted.
9. Changes to Terms
Updated terms will be posted here. Your continued use after a revision means you accept the updated version.
10. Restricted Access
We may block or limit access, without notice and at our discretion, when a user violates these terms or abuses the service.
11. South Carolina Law
These terms are governed by the laws of South Carolina, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Public records discussed by the directory are subject to the South Carolina Freedom of Information Act, S.C. Code Ann. §§ 30-4-10 et seq.; § 30-4-30 addresses access procedures and timing, while § 30-4-40 lists exemptions. That statute does not make this private service a custodian of government records.
12. Severability
If a portion of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.
